Great News. On Thursday 7th March 2013 Friends of SunnyBank Vale were the winners of the Green Space Award at the Pride of Droylsden Awards at Droylsden Academy. This is recognition of the huge contribution the Friends Group has made to help make the area a better place, a big thank you to all volunteers who have given up their time to assist, and a huge thank you to the local businesses who have contributed time and materials to help us achieve this award. We will continue throughout the year with the work and hopefully make the Vale even better. Next work party is Sunday 17th March meet at Peakdale Road Green at 11am.
Once again St Martins Scout and Cub group have helped us to build bird boxes which will be placed on the Vale in the very near future
The area previously owned by Greater Manchester Waste has now been taken over by Landcare (Manchester). A meeting has been held with a representative of the company, a full report on that meeting will be published soon on this page. We look forward to working together with the company and Tameside to carry out improvements and further enhance the Vale.
You will no doubt have noticed that the path linking Greenside Lane/Sunnyside Road entrance to Haven Drive entrance has been re-laid, and filled in where needed.
This was all made possible by the below companies, who not only donated operatives time but also provided machinery and materials.
Along with members of the Friends group we all worked together, resulting in a huge improvement to the path. You can see pictures of the work as it progressed on the Gallery pages

Apologies for the delay in updates, a lot has been happening since last report the scouts/cubs have been active carrying out a litter pick as part of their environment badge activities, they managed to pick up about 8 bags of litter between them a tremendous effort, on behalf of the Friends a big thank you goes to them all.
Looks like today is our Summer with plenty of sunshine the vale looks a lot better in the sunshine with the wild flowers growing through and the paths a little less muddy so get out there and enjoy it whilst you can.
Hopefully if all goes to plan work should start on the next priority paths very soon this should see the completion of two paths linking up with the new steps at the Ansdell drive entrance.
I have been in contact with South Lancashire Bat group who have kindly offered to carry out a bat survey for us so watch this space for further info.
